Can I get a GED if I haven't graduated 8th grade?

I'm planning on withrawing from 8th grade because I've failed many times. I would like to further my education and get my GED, but I'm not sure if I can. I live in Florida and I need to know if the GED test would be too hard for me if I've never passed 8th grade. I want to hurry and go to college. Is the GED test difficult?
